About Us
Upper Middle Road is a working 5 acre Smallholding set at 550 feet above the Wye Valley. The house is over 150 years old and was once a Wheelwright’s cottage. It has been extended and modernised to provide comfortable warm accommodation with central heating and a log fire but still retains some of the exposed oak beams. There are panoramic views of the Black Mountains sweeping around to the Brecon Beacons. Although quiet the house is not totally isolated, the village of Boughrood, pronounced Bockrood is less than a gentle one mile walk and Llyswen is across the bridge spanning the River Wye.

We keep a small flock of sheep which provide meat for the house and fleece for Karen to spin and dye. We have a few goats, whose milk Karen regularly makes into cheese, and free range hens whose eggs our guests enjoy at breakfast time.

Our guests are welcome to watch or take part in any activities on the farm if they so wish.

Apart from running the smallholding, Danny builds model aeroplanes and flies them from the local hills.
